Dorothy Marie Bartel, 90, Gerald, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan.
She was born Feb. 25, 1928, to Tony and Anne (Riefer) Fisher, in St. Louis.
She was united in marriage to Virgil Louis Bartel Dec. 7, 1947, in Green Ridge.
Dorothy enjoyed quilting, reading, sewing, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed her time as a cook at Gerald Elementary School for many years and enjoyed the Gerald Senior Center.
She was preceded in death by parents, Tony and Anne; husband, Virgil; and daughter, Kay Voss.
She is survived by daughters, Debbie Collins of San Diego, Calif., Elaine Scego and husband John of Owensville and Renae Stumpe and husband Keith of Mexico; son, Colonel Steve Bartel and wife Joanne of Washington; sister-in-law, Maxine Fink of Union; grandchildren, Alyssa and Andrew Bartel, Nick, Amber, Mackenzie and Lindsey Stumpe, Megan, Cole, Barrett, and Danica Scego and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 17, at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home of Gerald with Rev. Ron Koppelmann officiating. Burial was at Boeuff Presbyterian Cemetery in Gerald.
Memorials may be given to the Gerald Senior Center.
