Elwood Floyd Nicks, 85, Owensville, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 29, 1934, to Floyd Ellis and Rebecca Jewel (Richardson) Nicks, at Owensville.

He was united in marriage to Phyllis Bunner, June 29, 1963, at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Owensville.

Elwood served his country with the U.S. Army in the 24th Army Division in the Korean War. He was a life long farmer and worked as a custodian for Gasconade Co. R-2 Schools. He was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ having served on the Church Council; was a MFA delegate; enjoyed farming, fishing, and hunting; and also loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents, Floyd and Rebecca; sisters, Betty Nicks and Winona Coen; brothers-in-law, Charles Tometie, Glen Coen, and Jim Sidebottom; niece, Marci Lemen; and nephew, Matthew Tometie.

He is survived by wife, Phyllis, of the home; daughters, Pamela Lewis and husband Greg, Teresa Robertson and husband Larry and Nicole Mehrhoff and husband Ryan, all of Owensville, and Tiffany Martin and husband Andy of Belle; sister, Waneta Tometie of Whittier, Calif.; grandchildren, Ashley Stokes, Miranda and Austin Robertson, Blake and Daxton Mehrhoff and Josie Martin; great-grandson, Karson Bingamin; and by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

Memorial services were held Sunday, March 3, at Gottenstroeter Chapel, Owensville, with Rev. Danny Jarvis officiating. A private family service will be held at a later date at Owensville City Cemetery.
