To the Editor:
Many people have experienced the Rosebud Community Fireworks show. It is without a doubt one of the best fireworks shows and it draws thousands of people to our little town of Rosebud each year. What I doubt is how many of you knew Derick “Ick” McCurry was the heart of the show and he passed away on Dec. 28, 2018.
Derick planned, asked for donations, and worked with the rest of the volunteer fireworks crew to ensure the show would happen each year. He never wanted anyone to be disappointed — especially not his mother, Marilyn.
Derick, through his dedication to the show, put Rosebud on the map. While he was not politician or a civic leader, he was the epitome of Rosebud. He was kind, caring and Rosebud would be lucky to more citizens like him. He loved Rosebud and through his passion, he made it a better place to live.
Derick may be gone, but he will never be forgotten.
The 2019 Rosebud Fireworks show promises to be one of the best ever and as “Ick” would say, “Are You Ready?”
Rosebud is ready.
We are ready to ensure your legacy continues.
