A Bland man was fatally injured in an accident Saturday night in Gasconade County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported Douglas C. Sarchette, 64, of Bland, was killed in a crash at 10:48 p.m. on Route B at Route C, according to Cpl. Clint Mistler.

The incident occurred as Sarchette was driving a 1999 Ford F-350 eastbound on Route C and failed to stop at a stop sign, causing the vehicle to travel across Route B, striking a ditch and overturning. Mistler reported Sarchette was pronounced dead at the scene by Ozark Central Ambulance Paramedic Marci Renick. He was not wearing a safety device, the report noted. He was transported to Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville. The vehicle received total damage.

This is Troop F’s fth fatality for September and the 52nd for the year. Mistler was assisted by Sgt. Kent Kreftmeyer.

The MSHP also reported an injury crash involving a Columbia woman, Debra K. Anderson, 48, which took place at 7:45 a.m. Sun- day at Route ZZ at Stronghoener Road, north of Rosebud near the Gasconade and Franklin County line.

Anderson was travelling east on Route ZZ in a 2002 Chevrolet 1500 when she failed to negotiate a curve. She over-corrected, began to skid, and crossed the centerline. The vehicle went off the right side of the road a second time, overturned down an embankment and overturned, striking a tree. She was transported by ambulance for treatment of minor injuries to Mercy Hospital Washington. She was wearing a seat belt.
