LSC Communications buys Elsevier

As part of a a multi-year agreement between LSC Communications and Elsevier, Elsevier’s Linn Fulfillment and Distribution Center has been sold.

General Manager Randy Voss said the transition should not have a negative impact. “All employees will move over to LSC in their current position,” said Voss, adding that LSC anticipates additional growth at the Linn facility.

LSC currently prints a significant share of Elsevier’s books and journals and, under the new agreement, will begin providing book fulfillment and distribution services in 2019 for Elsevier’s U.S. markets.

According to LSC, the addition of this facility will further strengthen the company’s ongoing focus on providing a full range of supply chain services for publishers of both printed and electronic books. LSC is being bought by Quad/Graphics in an all-stock deal expected to be finalized sometime in 2019.

Anita Chandraprakash, executive vice president of global operations for, Elsevier, said, “We’re pleased to have reached an agreement with LSC for the sale of the Linn facility and have engaged in a multi-year agreement for warehouse fulfillment services. This is a very positive outcome which allows us to continue the high level of service our customers expect.”

Dave McCree, president of book sales at LSC Communications, added, “The Linn warehouse distribution center is a strategic fit to our Book Publisher Services platform and expands our fulfillment and distribution footprint. We look forward to providing fulfillment services to Elsevier and future clients out of the Linn facility.”
