Causing nightmares for opposing high school volleyball teams within the Four Rivers Conference (FRC) and the area, former Owensville Dutchgirl spiker Josie Miller will take her talents to the next level this fall at Jefferson College (JC).

Located in Hillsboro, Mo., just south of St. Louis, the college is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), NJCAA Region 16 and the Midwest Community College Athletic Conference (MCCAC).

Trading Dutchgirl orange and black for Lady Viking red and blue, Miller will give friends and family at least one chance at a close drive to see her play in a Lady Viking uniform.

East Central College (ECC) in Union is also a member of the MCCAC. ECC played at JC last fall and this year’s showdown in the fall of 2018 should take place in Union.

Helping the Dutchgirls finish as the MSHSAA Class 3, District 9 runner-up twice during her four years in an Owensville High School uniform, Miller left her mark on an OHS volleyball program that is still seeking their first district championship since 1979.

Playing 65 sets her senior year, Josie had 221 kills, 215 digs, 35 aces and 13 blocks.

Reaching double digits in kills during five of Owensville’s 26 matches, Miller posted a season-high 20 kills in a three-set loss to Union.

Other double-digit efforts in kills came against Calvary Lutheran with 16 during Eldon Volleyball Tournament. In a three-set loss at Sullivan, Miller put 12 kills on her stat sheet.

She also posted 10 kills apiece in a three-set victory against Pacific and in a pool-play split against Boonville at the Eldon Tournament.

Playing both the front and back row, Josie had multiple chances each match to rack up aces and digs.

During a two-set sweep of Belle, Miller served up a season-high seven aces.

Piling up 215 digs, Josie hit double figures in that department on six different occasions.

Adding to her previously mentioned 20 kills against Union, Miller also record a season-high 17 digs against the Lady Wildcats.

Along with her 10 kills against Pacific, she also added 16 digs in the match against the Lady Indians.

In another FRC match, Josie piled up 14 digs in a two-set sweep of St. James before recording 10 digs in matches against Linn, Sullivan and St. Clair.

As a junior in the fall of 2017, Miller compiled 161 kills, eight blocks and 32 aces in 50 total sets.

Josie achieved her season-high of 12 kills as a junior twice in matches against St. James and St. Clair.

Miller also racked up 11 kills twice against Linn and in a three-set victory over Cuba.

In serving as a junior, Josie recorded seven aces against Bowling Green at the Fulton Tournament.

In addition to her 11 kills against Cuba, she also had 16 digs.
