Owensville High School’s new baseball and softball field is taking shape as outfield grading work and installation of the turf infield are in progress this week. Brown infield turf was rolled out by Monday evening and will cover the infield and pitcher’s bull-pens. Green turf will be installed outside the base lines. This is typical for fields which will be used by both baseball and softball teams, according to the school’s new athletic director, Ryan Okenfuss. Seams will be glued together to connect all the sections of turf. The $450,000 project includes bleachers, a press box, and a separate batting cage down the third-base line. Lighting for the field, which is anticipated to cost an additional $250,000 will have to be funded as a separate phase of the project, said Superintendent Dr. Chuck Garner.
