An investigation of burglaries from storage sheds in Bland on Sunday by Gasconade County Deputy Marty Rainey led to the arrests and felony charges against two Belle men.
Rainey’s investigation at the scene, along with accurate witness information, helped him identity two suspects, identified as Jimmy D. Shanks, 25, and Greg P. Valley, 22. Both are jailed in Maries County on warrants alleging second-degree burglary. Bond was set at $50,000 for each.
Rainey was joined in the investigation by Belle Police Chief Michael Dixon and patrol officer Flora, according to Capt. Chuck Howard of Gasconade County’s Sheriff’s patrol.
Stolen property from Bland was reportedly recovered from a residence on East Fifth Street in Belle. KRCG reported more than 400 items believed to have been stolen from storage sheds in Bland and Belle were recovered. Howard said similar and additional charges are pending in Gasconade County.
“The extent of this burglary spree remains under investigation and more property may be recovered in the coming days,” said Howard.
He urged “anyone who rents a storage unit in the area to check them.” Many burglaries may go unreported as “storage units are not always visited on a regular basis.”
