JEFFERSON CITY – Gov. Jay Nixon today announced the appointment of Nicholas H. Baxter, of Bland, as the new Presiding Commissioner for Gasconade County.
He will fill the term of the late Ron Jost, who passed away in October. Baxter, a Democrat, owns and operates a contracting insulation service, Lost Hill Insulation, and also farms in the Bland area. He is the post commander for VFW Post 6133 in Owensville. Baxter also has served as a member of the Gasconade County Fair Board, and is involved in the Missouri Farm Bureau, the Owensville Gun Club and the local Moose Lodge.
“Nick Baxter grew up in Gasconade County, and has been active here as a farmer, business owner and civic organization leader for many years,” Gov. Nixon said. “I’m pleased to appoint him to this leadership position in his home county. I also want to thank the Jost family for the public service that Ron Jost gave to Gasconade County as the Presiding Commissioner.”
