Owensville voters will cast ballots Tuesday on a $1.65 million bond issue to build a water park at Memorial Park.
The proposal includes a 31-cent property tax levy to retire the bond in 16-years. Figures from the Owensville Park Board show the owner of a house valued at $70,000, the community’s average, would pay an additional $3.44 a month. With a decrease, by retirement of prior city debt, the average tax payer would pay $29 less a year for 2013 (compared to 2011) if the measure is approved on a fourth-sevenths majority.
Polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. April 2. City voters will have uncontested ballots for Ward 2 alderman (Charles “Rob” Borgmann) and Ward 1 (Bobbie Berger). For R-2 School District patrons, incumbent Linda Baehr, Anthony (Tony) Alvarez and Douglas Dunlap will vie for two 3-year terms.
Gasconade County voters are being asked to approve a 1.375 percent local use tax which will generate income the county currently does not receive on Internet purchases over $2,000 annually.
