Belle police and the Maries County Sheriff’s Department took custody of two children, 3-months and 5-years-old, after investigating a June 15 call for an injured infant at a Belle residence in the 200 block of Linn Street.
Lawmen arrested Annie L. Crull, 25, of Belle, after allegedly discovering “suspected drug paraphernalia inside the residence,” according to Maries Sheriff Chris Heitman.
According to a report from Heitman, “The mother was charged with abuse of a child, a class C felony, for knowingly inflicting cruel and inhuman punishment upon a minor child, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree a class C felony for acting in a manner that created a substantial risk to the life and health of two minor children by ingesting methamphetamine and opiates to the point of impairment while the children were in her care.”
Heitman noted the range of punishment for a class C felony is imprisonment in the custody of the Missouri Department of Corrections for a term of not less than two years and not to exceed seven years; or by imprisonment for a special term not to exceed one year in the county jail and/or a fine not to exceed $5,000.
