Going against Sullivan and the host Comets in a tri-meet, Owensville had mixed results falling to Sullivan and defeating Fatima.
Facing off against the Eagles first, Rod Barndollar’s Dutchmen fell to Sullivan by a dual score of 42-36.
Getting wins by pin for OHS were Yedidya Bright (120 pounds), Kiowa Wright (126), Matt Pohlmann (132), Cody Dolles (160) and A.J. Harrell (195).
Coming up short against the Eagles were Brent Korman (106), Casey Allen (113), Dalten Chapman (138), Conrad Bombach (152), Chris Dolles (170), Nick Plocinski (182) and Ryan Escalante (220).
Jon Marquez won by forfeit at 145 pounds for the Dutchmen.
Ending the meet against Fatima, Owensville held on for a 40-37 win.
Starting the dual at 120 pounds, losses by Bright, Wright, Pohlmann and Chapman left the Dutchmen down 19-0 to the host Comets.
A win by forfeit for Marquez got OHS on the board before Bombach fell in his match against Fatima.
Wins by pin for the Dolles brothers and forfeit wins from Plocinski and Harrell helped the Dutchmen to a 30-25 lead.
Switching things up, Escalante wrestled at 285 pounds. Earning a 12-4 major decision, he gave OHS the lead back at 34-31. Korman’s win by forfeit enabled Owensville to hold on for the dual win.
Dutchmen at Marshfield
Venturing southwest to the Springfield area, Barndollar’s Dutchmen got an early preview of district action this weekend at Clinton in the Marshfield Duals Tournament held Saturday.
To open the tournament, Owensville went up against Reeds Spring.
At 195 pounds, fans got a treat of a match seeing the top two wrestlers in Class 2 (according to Missouriwrestling.com) in A.J. Harrell (OHS) and Tyler Miller (Reeds Spring) go at it.
Trailing 5-2 after one period, Harrell took over the match in the second period and got the win by fall in 3:14 to help his cause when the district tournament is seeded this morning. (Wednesday)
Winning their matches along with the elder Harrell were Allen, Wyatt Harrell, Pohlmann, Chapman, Chris Dolles, Cody Dolles and Plocinski.
Owensville defeated the Wolves 48-34 to start the tournament.
As the day moved along, the wrestling picked up for OHS.
Going up against Webb City (39-31) and Monett (41-27), OHS could not come up with enough wins against the Cardinals and Cubs.
Scoring victories against Webb City were the Harrell brothers (Wyatt and A.J.), Pohlmann, David Weirich, Chris Dolles and Escalante.
Dutchmen grapplers with victories against Monett included Wright, Pohlmann, Bombach, Cody Dolles, A.J. Harrell and Escalante.
Finishing round-robin wrestling against host Marshfield, Owensville earned a 54-27 win in that dual.
Getting wins by fall were the Harrell and Dolles brothers, Pohlmann, Chapman, Weirich, Bombach and Plocinski.
Scheduled to meet St. James for third place, both schools decided with only four contested matches to call it a day and finish tied for third.
