The Franklin County Health Department reported 14 additional deaths related to COVID-19 in Franklin County. The department does not release any information as to when the deaths actually occurred, but there is a lag of up to several weeks in the reporting.
On Dec. 3, the following deaths were reported: two New Haven women ages 83 and 94; an 88-year-old Grubville woman; three women, ages 82,87 and 97 and a 95-year-old man, all from St. Clair; a man, 69, from Gray Summit; and a 13-year-old boy, a an 83-year-old man and a 91-year-old woman, all from Washington.
The following day, Dec. 4, information was released that two more had died, a Pacific man, 86 and a Union man, 88.
Statistics from Monday, Dec. 7, included the death of a 69-year-old man from Pacific.
494 people in the county tested positive for the virus in the last week.
12 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in the Gerald area in the last seven days. These new cases range from people ages 6 to 75.
That compares to 352 cases reported the previous week with seven of those in the Gerald area.
The week began with 100 cases reported in long-term care facilities in the county. By yesterday, the number had dropped to 45.
As of yesterday, there were 23 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in Franklin County hospitals.
A mask mandate for Franklin County remains in effect until Dec. 20, but many ignore it. The mandate was issued Nov. 19.
