2,044 initial doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Franklin County according to Presiding Commissioner Tim Brinker.

Brinker reports the vaccines have been administered at Mercy Hospital, Walgreens and CVS.

In total, 2,222 doses of the vaccines have been administered to county residents.

According to Brinker, this means that roughly two percent of the county residents have received their first of two doses of the vaccine. He notes, “This is such welcome news, and indeed  an incredible step into the light!”

Brinker did not include a breakdown of who received the vaccine thus far. It was expected that health care workers and residents of long-term care facilities would be the first to receive the vaccines.

Active cases in long-term care facilities hit a high of 157 on July 20. Cases in such facilities are now down to 22.
