Reported positive COVID-19 cases in the county dropped last week from the previous week—but only by one case. Franklin County officials reported 250 confirmed new cases for the week of Sept. 4-10. There were 91 new probable cases reported, up from 32 cases the week before.

There were eight new cases reported in the Gerald area, including three boys, ages 7, 9 and 10 plus an 89-year-old man. Four females ages 18,19, 51 and 75 also tested positive. There were five positive cases in Leslie and two in Beaufort.

While there were no COVID-19 cases in county long-term care facilities in the two prior weeks, this week two positive cases have been confirmed.

Those hospitalized with the coronavirus within the county rose from 15 to 25 in the last week.

There were no new deaths reported from the virus in the weekly report.
