$7,420 in gift cards distributed to GES teachers through online fund-raiser

Gerald Elementary School Principal Jared Tharp has announced he was able to distribute $7,420 in gift cards to his classroom teachers on Friday, April 23.

The gift cards are a result of a partnership the school entered into last fall with SchoolStore.com as a no-contact fund-raiser.

“SchoolStore.com has arrangements with hundreds of online retailers who have graciously offered to work with them in order to help benefit school districts,” Tharp explains.

Community members could do their normal online shopping, but by using a school code, GES would receive a percentage of the order total. They could also donate a Caring for Classrooms gift card under this program. These gift cards can be used by teachers to purchase items for their classroom.

“This display of support from our community is incredible and our team at GES is very appreciative,” Tharp noted. “We look forward to continuing our relationship with SchoolStore.com and their affiliates.”

This was not a district-wide fund-raiser, but rather one that Tharp saw as a great opportunity to raise money for his teachers efforts in the classrooms at GES.

This successful fund-raiser allowed the school to raise money within the current guidelines under which it operates, such as reduced contact and social distancing.
