The “Diamonds and Denim” 75th anniversary celebration of the Gasconade County Fair opens this evening at Owensville’s Memorial Park. An opening ceremony at 6 p.m. on Memorial Field, with presentation of community service awards and scholarships, is followed by the Little Mr. and Miss pageant and the queen contest. Rodeo events are scheduled on the lower arena.
Thursday is the demolition derby and a concert by Building 429. Friday has tractor and truck pulling below and the Oak Ridge Boys on the main stage (8:30 p.m.). Saturday’s concert is Tracy Lawrence (8:30) with more truck and tractor pulling events below. Local bands Barely Covered (Friday) and Iron Road (Saturday) play the lower beer garden stages.
