Hitting the road for the first time in a month, Nathan Cabot’s Owensville Dutchmen will venture into eastern Franklin County to face Pacific’s Indians.
Pacific’s first-year head coach is a familiar one to fans of Dutchmen football from the mid 1990s.
Paul Day picked up his first win as Pacific’s sideline boss last Friday night with a 26-21 victory over Sullivan.
In that game, Indian dual-threat quarterback Luke Meyer ran for 123 yards rushing on 14 carries in addition to 176 yards through the air on 10-19 passing and two touchdowns with no interceptions.
Going into week six, Meyer has thrown for 459 yards on 40-84 passing with five touchdowns and five interceptions.
Meyer’s favorite target Friday night was Christian Sparks with seven catches for 140 yards.
Sparks has 15 catches for 206 yards receiving and two touchdowns. Donta Harris is also a favorite target of Meyer’s with 17 catches for 184 yards and two touchdowns.
On the ground, Matthew Austin is the team’s leading rusher with 326 yards on 70 carries and four touchdowns. Meyer also has 213 yards on the ground on 49 carries.
Players to watch on defense for Pacific include Trevor Hill, Andrew Payne, Coby Moeller, Colton Thompson and Sparks.
Hill had two sacks to lead the Indians against Sullivan while Sparks had a team-high 11 total tackles against the Eagles.
Matthew Austin, Tyler Martin and Andrew Payne also posted sacks for Pacific against Sullivan.
Hill currently leads the Indians with 33 total tackles followed closely by Payne with 30 and Moeller with 29.
Throwing for 199 yards Friday night against Hermann, junior Dutchmen quarterback Brendan Decker goes into this Friday’s showdown with Pacific with 1,097 yards through the air on 56-103 passing, 16 touchdowns and four interceptions.
Garret West is Owensville’s leading rusher with 249 yards rushing on 38 carries and a pair of touchdowns. Decker also has 211 yards on the ground on 50 carries and two touchdowns.
Through the air, Derek Brandt has a team-high 585 yards receiving on 20 catches and seven TDs.
On defense TC Fisher has a team-leading 54 total tackles while Logan Evans lead the Dutchmen sack department with four.
