A revoluntionary idea

Our new Governor did a good job laying out his legislative future in his State of the State talk.

However, I have a worry. Governor Kehoe’s view on public education differs greatly from mine. He sees a major part of the solution of improving education is leaving our extremely low funding for public schools. He wants to shift much funding to private schools.

We are low-funders with a legislatively passed funding plan. Kehoe wants to underfund the legislation by $300million. Then he wants to give $50million to private schools for taking students.

In underfunding the state plan, a problem is Missouri is at the bottom for state paying for teachers.

I have a revolutionary idea. Lets pay teachers enough to attract and retain good teachers. We are not broke. We can afford to properly pay teachers and programs — unless he goes through with his idea to eliminate the state income tax.
