HERMANN — A day of drinking and discussing politics resulted Saturday afternoon in the shooting of one Kansas City-area man by another at a downtown Hermann guesthouse, according to Hermann Police Chief Marlon Walker.
Charles Payton of the Kansas City area was arrested and booked into the Osage County Jail after he allegedly shot an unidentified acquaintance in the stomach after a day of drinking and talking politics.
“I guess one of them got tired of hearing the one’s opinions,” Walker said, noting that all the people at the people at the guesthouse on Schiller Street know each other.
Payton was released on bond on Sunday, the chief said.
The shooting victim was taken to Mercy Washington for the gunshot wound and then transported to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis for an eye injury. He was released later in the day, the chief said. The Gasconade County Sheriff’s Department assisted the Hermann Police Department in responding to the incident.
