All-FRC basketball honors for five OHS ballers

After New Haven’s Lady Shamrocks ended their season over the weekend during the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Class 2 Girls Show-Me Showdown in Springfield, five Owensville Dutchmen and Dutchgirls found out they had been selected to their respective All-Four Rivers Conference (FRC) basketball teams.

Released following Sullivan’s sectional loss to the Mary Institute Country Day School (MICDS) Rams last week, the All-FRC Boys Basketball team featured a pair of Dutchmen seniors.

One of eight unanimous selections to the All-FRC First Team was senior guard Will Lauth.

Leading the Dutchmen in scoring averaging 15.3 points per game, Lauth also averaged three rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.5 steals per game.

Reaching double figures in scoring during 23 of their 27 games, Lauth’s season-high point total came against Pacific at the St. Francis Borgia Turkey Tournament scoring 27 points against the Indians.

On Valentine’s Day against Union’s Wildcats, Lauth recorded a double double finishing with 10 points and pulling down a season-high 11 rebounds.

He also dished out a season-high four assists on two occasions in early January against the St. Louis Blue Knights during the Owensville Tournament and against Steelville’s Cardinals five days later in regular-season action following the tournament.

Defensively, Lauth also recorded a season-high four steals against the St. Louis JV Blue Knights at the Owensville Tournament and as a part of his aforementioned double double against Union.

Fellow senior Bryce Payne was selected to the All-FRC Second Team.

Helping the Dutchmen finish 8-19 overall and 4-3 inside the FRC, Payne also reached double figures averaging 11 points per game to go along with a team-leading 7.1 rebounds per contest.

Payne also average 2.2 assists and one steal per game while blocking a team-high 19 shots.

Scoring in double figures during 14 of their 27 games, Payne posted a season-high 21 points during their road victory at Salem kicking off the December portion of their season.

Pulling down double-digit rebounds in nine games, Payne finished with a season-best 13 boards twice in back-to-back early December games against Southern Boone and Linn.

For the season, Payne also finished with six double doubles.

Second on the team in assists, Payne dished out a season-high six of them against the St. Louis JV Blue Knights during the Owensville Tournament.

During their stretch of four FRC wins, Payne recorded a season-high five steals on the road against New Haven’s Shamrocks.

Ryan Flanagan’s Owensville Dutchgirl saw three of their players earn recognition by the coaches from the conference.

Junior guard Emma Daniels was among eight All-FRC First Team selections.

Reaching double digits in scoring in all but two games, Emma scored a season and career-high 36 points against Orchard Farm during the Marquette Girls Basketball Tournament.

Emma led the Dutchgirls in scoring averaging 16.9 points per game to go with four rebounds, 2.9 steals and 2.7 assists per game.

She pulled down a season-high 10 rebounds against New Haven helping her to her lone double double of the season with 13 points.

Emma also dished out a season-high seven assists against Capital City while recording six steals against Pacific while she surpassed 1,000 career points.

Her cousin Ali Daniels was one of two Dutchgirls named to the All-FRC Second Team along with Camryn Caldwell.

Ali averaged 11.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, a team high 4.6 assists and 2.6 steals per game helping the Dutchgirls finish 18-9 overall.

Recording three double doubles during her sophomore season, Ali’s best came against Salem with 23 points and 10 rebounds.

She dished out a season-high 10 assists against North County while also recording a season-high six steals against Capital City.

Caldwell made it a trio of double-digit Dutchgirl scorers averaging 10.6 points per game to go along with 2.5 assists. 2.3 rebounds and 1.5 steals per contest.

Posting a season-high 19 points and five rebounds against Steelville, Caldwell also posted a season-high six steals against Liberty Christian.
