Anna Irene Giedinghagen, age 100, went to her heavenly home on Oct. 25, 2020, at New Haven Care Center where she had lived for over five years. She was the daughter of Henry and Minnie (Hoener) Niebruegge, born at home on the family farm in Gasconade County and graduated from Owensville High School. She and Lewis A. Giedinghagen were married on Valentine’s Day 1942 in St. Louis. Four of their five children survive; Diane Stevens and husband Bob, Marsha Bearden and husband Rick of Washington, Dale Giedinghagen and wife Vicki of Kansas City and David Giedinghagen and wife June of Lake St. Louis.
Anna was committed to the Lord Jesus Christ and faithfully prayed for her immediate and extended family. She loved music and enjoyed singing and playing hymns on the piano. She delighted in spending time with her grandchildren, was an excellent seamstress and wonderful cook. Anna retired from the payroll department of the Ferguson-Florissant School District 1985.
Anna was the last of her generation in both Niebruegge and Giedinghagen families. She was preceded in death by her sister, Verna Spurgeon; both brothers, Chester and Milford Niebruegge; her husband Lewis and their beloved son, Jim.
Anna is also survived by eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held due to COVID-19. Anna requested contributions to a Christian charity or missionary organization instead of flowers. The family is grateful to Heartland Hospice staff and New Haven Care Center for their kindness and compassion.
The Giedinghagen family is served by Oltmann Funeral Home in Washington.
