76 COVID-19 cases were reported in Franklin County in the last seven days. None of those cases were from the Gerald area, although a 37-year-old female from Beaufort tested positive. There were 69 cases reported the previous week.
The latest Franklin County numbers available at press time, show 128 active cases with 8 confined in long-term care facilities and 120 self-quarantined in the county. 320 people have recovered from the virus according to statistics provided by Abe Cook, Director Franklin County Emergency Management Agency.
Presiding Commissioner Tim Brinker notes that the last death attributed to the virus occurred June 9, the 18th death in the county. He says hospitalizations are the key factor in determining the severity of the virus. That information has been squelched from the public. The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services notes, “Please note, due to an abrupt change in data measures and the reporting platform issued by the White House on Monday, July 13, and effective Wednesday, July 15, Missouri Hospital Association (MHA) and the State of Missouri will be unable to access critical hospitalization data during the transition. While we are working to collect interim data, situational awareness will be limited. We will resume producing the daily hospitalization snapshot as soon as the data feeds are fully restored.”
The latest information from Cook shows no hospitalizations in the county. The local data does not track any hospitalizations by county residents in facilities in the City of St. Louis or other counties. Inquiries to Frank Hemmer, the media spokesperson of Mercy Washington, were not answered by press time.
