Anthony Gerherd Amptmann, 85, St. Louis, passed away Saturday, March 13, 2021, at SSM Health DePaul Hospital in Bridgeton.
He was born April 13, 1935, to Venable and Elizabeth (Sonderen) Amptmann, in O’Fallon.
He was united in marriage to Rae Jean Poetting, March 18, 1989, in Bridgeton.
Anthony served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Bremerton during the Korean War. He enjoyed bowling, reading and spending weekends in the country with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, Venable and Elizabeth; and brother, Francis Amptmann.
He is survived by wife, Rae, of the home; children, Michael Amptmann and wife Rita of Olympic, Wash., Melinda Amptmann of Avada, Colo., James Hartman and wife Debra of Vanita Park, Glenda Siefert and husband David of Morrison, Steven Hartman and wife Christy of Fenton, Laura Reprogle and husband Harold of Bay and Sandy Hartman, Brian Poetting, Darren Poetting and Kevin Poetting, all of St. Louis; sister, Raegean Amptmann of St. Louis; sister-in-law, Jean Amptmann of Moscow Mills; and 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 20, from 9-11 a.m. at Gottenstroeter Chapel in Owensville. Funeral services with full military honors will follow with Rev. Kevin Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in Owensville City Cemetery. The funeral home requests attendees observe covid restrictions. Masks are requested but not mandatory. Memorials requested to family’s choice.
