Anton “Tony” Herman Libbert, 81, Meta, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025, at his home. 

He was born Aug. 13, 1943, to the late Lionel John and Aharta Anna (Wieberg) Libbert in Jefferson City.

He was a 1961 graduate of St. Elizabeth R-IV.  Following high school, Tony earned his associates degree and was in the first graduating class from Linn Tech in 1963.

He began his working at McDonnell Douglas.  Two years later, Tony was drafted into the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War.  He honorably served overseas from April 8, 1965, until his discharge March 31, 1967.  Following his military service, Tony went to work for Xerox for a couple years before starting his own company, Anton Libbert Electric.

He was united in marriage to Dolores Blomberg June 9, 1973, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.

Tony was an active member of his community, having over 40 years of volunteer service with various local organizations including the Meta Fire and Rescue Protection, COMM-Unity Ambulance, and he served on the Board of Meta Fire Protection District. 

He was always willing to help others in need and was a proud blood donor, a committed member of Citizen Civic League and St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta. 

Tony was preceded in death by parents, Lionel and Aharta; sisters, Bonnie Libbert and Sandy Libbert; and brother, Harold Libbert. 

He is survived by loving wife, Dolores; son, Roy John Libbert; daughter, Amy Lister; grandchildren, Kelsey Perry, Taylor Libbert, Brooke Dillingham and husband Michael and Emma and Sophia Lister; one great-grandchild due in April; siblings, Terry Libbert and wife Pam, Betty Jean Kemna and husband Curtis and Loyd Libbert and wife Dina; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. 

Mass of Christian Burial was held Feb. 3, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta with Fr. Mark Porterfield officiating.  Interment with military honors was in St. Cecilia Cemetery. 

Memorial contributions suggested to Masses or St. Cecilia Cemetery.
