Ardith Ann “Ardie” (Nilges) Wilson, 80, Jefferson City, passed away peacefully May 5, 2021.
She was born Oct. 4, 1940, to the late Lawrence H. and Iona Mae (Franken) Nilges in Kansas City.
She was united in marriage to Wm. R. Wilson May 13, 1961, in Linn.
Ardith graduated from Linn High School in 1958. She was employed with various attorneys in Jefferson City, multiple state legislators and the Osage County R-II School District superintendent’s office from where she retired in 2008 after 30 years.
Ardith Ann was an avid book reader and loved finding a bargain at any rummage sale. In retirement she enjoyed traveling to various countries with her travel buddies and was a member of the Red Hat Society. Ardith enjoyed and rarely missed attending her grandchildren’s sporting and extracurricular events.
She was preceded in death by parents, Lawrence and Iona; brothers-in-law, Ralph Otto and James McDonald; sister-in-law, Ida Mae (Wilson) McDonald; two nieces; and one nephew.
Ardith is survived by son, Mark Wilson and wife Paula of Columbia; daughter, Paige Kampeter and husband Michael of Jefferson City; grandchildren, Brandon Kampeter and wife Shelby, Kelsey (Wilson) DeVenney and husband Steve, Trey Kampeter and wife Staci, Dane Wilson, Kelsy Michely and Claire Kampeter; great-grandchildren, Axel and Ace DeVenney and Reese and Gwynn Kampeter; step great-granddaughter, Gracie DeVenney; brother, Lawrence G. “Butch” Nilges and his wife Pat of Linn; sister-in-law Angie (Wilson) Otto; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was held Monday, May 10 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City with Most Reverend Bishop Shawn McKnight and Fr. Jeremy Secrist officiating. Interment was in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial contributions suggested to Hospice Compasses of Central Missouri or a charity of the donor’s choice.
