A rural Owensville man received moderate injuries Monday afternoon when the ATV he was driving south on Highway 19 was struck from behind.

Steven M. Hollander, 65, was transported to Capital Region Hospital in Jefferson City following the incident reported at 1:30 p.m. Monday. According to the report from Trooper B.R. Lange of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Hollander was driving a 2006 Kubota 900 ATV a quarter mile south of Hecker Road when a 2013 Ford Flex driven by Megan K. Barton, 31, of Rhineland, struck him from behind.

After the impact, Hollander’s vehicle veered off the left side of the highway and came to a stop in the ditch, ejecting him. The report noted Barton “did not observe” Hollander’s “vehicle on the road.”

Barton went by private vehicle for treatment of minor injuries to Mercy Hospital Washington, according to Lange’s report. She was wearing a seat belt, Hollander was not. Triple L towing removed the Flex which had extensive front-end damage. Friends removed Hollander’s ATV from the scene.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol also reported an injury crash on Highway 100 went of Route J which occurred at 5:10 p.m. April 11.

Steven M. White, 63, of Chamois, was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Corvette west on Highway 100 when he “attempted to overtake” as 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck driven by Caleb R. Englert, 19, of Hermann. White’s car struck the rear of Englert’s truck, causing Englert to strike a guardrail two-tenths of a mile west of Route J. White’s car also struck the guardrail.

White was transported to Hermann Area District Hospital by Hermann Area Ambulance District personnel for treatment of minor injuries. Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Harvey’s Towing.

White was no wearing a seat belt but Engler was, according to the report by Trooper Drew O’Brien.
