Arthur Waldo Enke, 92, Owensville, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2020, at Capital Region Hospital in Jefferson City.
He was born Dec. 27, 1927, to William and Lydia (Pietraschke) Enke, in Bem.
He was united in marriage to Irma Schulte, July 6, 1991, at the Methodist Church in Owensville.
Arthur proudly served his country with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Owensville and the Owensville VFW Post 6133. He was employed by Allied Chemical Co. for 38 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and traveling but most of all he treasured spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irma; parents, William and Lydia; sister, Beulah Rutz; and brothers, Raymond, Donald “Duke” and Armin Enke.
He is survived by children, Nancy Noland and husband Richard of Owensville, Rick Enke and wife Teri of Jefferson City, Rev. Gary Schulte and wife Deborah of Washington, David Schulte and Beth Holmes of Lee’s Summit, Letha Ellis and husband Ken of Owensville, Janet Todaro and Dean of Gerald, Melanie Adkison and husband Gary of Owensville and Susan Binkholder and husband Mike of St. Louis; brother, Paul Enke and wife Sharon of St. Peter’s; sister, Mildred “Mickey” Treece and husband Donald of Cuba; sister-in-law, Chirley Enke of Owensville; grandchildren, Tracy Heyer and husband Roy, Amy Noland, Mandy Poebla and husband Jacob, Stephanie Medlock and husband Andy, Cass Noland, Chris Enke, Jason Enke, Michelle Craig, Mike Craig and wife Kassie, Alycia Craig, Tessa Gauzy, Travis Cearly and wife Katherine, Darcy Cearly, Jesse Schulte and wife Megan, Matthew Schulte, Mitchell Ellis-Yapp and Jeffrey, Cody Ellis and wife Claire, Wyatt Horstman and wife Amanda, Meggan Schuchardt and husband Mike, Nicole Huff and husband Corey; and 28 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 17, at Gottenstroeter Funeral Chapel, Owensville, with Rev. Stephanie DeLong officiating. Burial was in St. John’s United Church of Christ Cemetery in Bem with full military honors.
