NEW HAVEN — Hunting for medals and plaques.

That is what Matt Candrl’s Owensville High School track and field teams were doing Monday at New Haven High School during the annual Four Rivers Conference (FRC) track meet.

After all of the events were scored, Owensville’s Dutchgirls claimed their second consecutive FRC team title finishing with 177 points ahead of second-place Pacific (124).

Candrl’s Dutchmen settled for second place as a team finishing with 140 points behind Union with 171 points.

“Everyone gave their best effort today,” Candrl said. “Our girls were able to put it all together to claim another (Four Rivers) conference title. Union simply outperformed us on the boys side.”

Junior Emma Daniels led the Dutchgirls winning FRC titles in the girls 100m dash (13.24), 200m dash (27.60) and 400m dash (1:02.40).

She also placed second in the girls long jump with a leap of 4.90m.

Saylor Richardson also earned All-FRC honors in the 200m dash with a third-place time of 28.98.

Dutchgirl sophomore distance runner Ilene Limberg also earned All-FRC honors in three events placing second to Hermann’s Katy Menke in the varsity girls 800m, 1600m and 3200m runs.

Limberg’s times of 5:28.79 (1600m), 2:33.85 (800m) and 12:42.28 (3200m) should put her in good shape come district meet time a week from Saturday at Waynesville High School.

All four Dutchgirl relay teams claimed All-FRC accolades placing second or higher in their respective races.

Edging New Haven in the girls 4x200m relay was the Dutchgirl foursome of Ella Gehlert, Emma-lee Wehmeyer, McKenzy Echols and Richardson.

Sprinting to FRC gold in the girls 4x100m relay were Owensville’s Cameron Nowack, Richardson, Echols and Wehmeyer in a time of 52.75.

Ending the meet with a FRC title in the girls 4x400m relay in 4:30.55 were Brynn Wright, Ali Daniels, Echols and Ella Gehlert.

Claiming silver medals with a second-place time of 11:16.20 in the girls 4x800m relay was the Dutchgirl quartet of Hannah Gehlert, Abbie Gibson, Ashley Reed and Wright.

In addition to her winning relay legs, Wehmeyer placed second in the girls 300m hurdles (54.95) and third in the girls 100m hurdles (17.80) giving her All-FRC honors in four events.

Wright also placed third behind Limberg in the 800m run with a time of 2:34.82.

Ella Gehlert added a third-place finish (1.45m) in the varsity girls high jump to go with her leg of the 4x400m relay.

Jenna Vandegriffe claimed All-FRC honors by clearing 2.45m giving her second place in the girls pole vault.

Dutchmen senior Bryce Payne earned two second-place medals in the 110m and 300m hurdles with times of 15.54 and 40.41 respectively.

Aside from a fifth-place time of 47.57 in the boys 4x100m relay by the Dutchmen team of Ricardo Marquez, Derrick Marquez, Connor Wellman and Elliot, Owensville made up for it winning FRC titles in the 4x200m and 4x800m relays.

Shortly after lunch, the Dutchmen 4x800m relay team of Gabe Soest, Lucas Morgan, Layne Evans and Felix Guerrero claimed FRC gold with a time of 8:53.37.

During the 4x200m relay, OHS claimed another FRC title with a winning time of 1:35.90 by the foursome of Blake Elliott, Tanner Meyer,, Evans and Payne.

Ending the meet, Owensville’s 4x400m relay team almost made it three FRC titles with a second-place time of 3:42.02 by the foursome of Ethan Harris, Meyer, Guerrero and Evans.

Charlie Whelan earned All-FRC honors taking third in the 100m dash (11.94) and the 200m dash (23.70).

Guerrero placed third in the 1600m run in 4:46.68 to earn additional All-FRC honors.

Meyer posted a second-place time of 52.14 in the boys 400m dash.

Soest added to his leg of the 4x800m relay with a third-place time of 2:07.24 in the boys 800m run and a third-place height of 1.70m in the boys high jump.

Derrick Marquez cleared 3.45m in the boys pole vault to place third giving him All-FRC honors.

Hayden Shoemaker earned All-FRC honors with a second-place throw of 39.60m in the boys discus.
