Barbara Ellen Knight, 79, Owensville, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2021, at Frene Valley of Owensville a Stone Bridge Community.

Barbara was born July 4, 1942, to Alfred and Frances (Scego) West in Owensville.

She was united in marriage to Terry Knight, Jan. 3, 1981, at First Baptist Church in Owensville.

She worked as a cashier at IGA grocery store for 26 years and also worked alongside her husband Terry at Knight’s Vending for many years. Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and had a special love for each of them. Her caring and loving personality was a blessing to all who knew her. She enjoyed going out to eat, and also loved preparing home cooked meals for her family. She was known for her homemade chicken and dumplings with rolls. Barbara was a member of the First Baptist Church in Owensville.

She was preceded in death by parents Alfred and Frances West; husband Terry Knight; brothers Charles West and Kenneth Mohesky; sister JoAnn Brauks; brother-in-law Charles Brauks; sisters-in-law Barbara Mohesky and Lauralie Mohesky; granddaughter Jessica Knight; nephew David Brauks; and great-nephew Christopher Bohl.

Her survivors include her children William “Billy” Fritsch, Jr. and wife Kristi of Owensville, Julia Tobben and husband Joseph of Washington; step-children Doug Knight and wife Jean, Randy Knight and wife Marsha, and Darren Knight and wife Amy all of Owensville; brother Eugene Mohesky of Indialantic, Fla.; sisters-in-law Judy West, Shelba Knight both of Owensville, and Bernice Mohesky of St. Louis; brother-in-law Carroll Knight and wife Alice of Austin, Texas; ten grandchildren Tyler Fritsch and wife Chelsey, Megan DeBoeuf and husband Bo, Dr. Ashley DeBoeuf, Benjamin Tobben, Miranda Stroupe and husband Matthew, Ryan Knight, Eric Knight, Matthew Knight and wife Lorene, Savannah Knight, and Barrett Knight; seven great-grandchildren Micah and Madelyn Stroupe, Owen, Evan, Bentley, Liam, and Quinn Knight; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday, Dec. 18, from 9–11 a.m., at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home Chapel, Owensville. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the chapel with Rev. Kevin Sullivan officiating. Burial will be at Countryside Memorial Gardens in Owensville.
