Barbara Jean Sunfield, 84, of Owensville, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on Sept. 12, 1938, the daughter of the late Howard and Antoinette (Bracke) Flagg in St. Louis.
She was the widow of Randy R. Sunfield. They were united in marriage on Oct. 31, 1987, at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Haven. Randy preceded her in death on May 28, 1997.
Barbara was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, New Haven. She owned and operated Sunfield Nursery for several years.
She is preceded in death by parents, Howard and Antoinette; husband, Randy; sisters, Ann McKenna, Pat Lippert, Donna Greer and Nancy Dent; and brothers, Dennis and Howard “Billy” Flagg.
Barbara is survived by son, Richard Bray and wife Marla of Owensville; daughters, Cynthia Gray and husband Rick of Owensville, and Debra Woodcock and husband Alfred of Sullivan; son, James Bray of St. Clair; step-daughter, Faye Wright of St. Louis; step-son, Todd Sunfield of Berger; grandchildren, Derick Bray and wife Amanda, Stephanie Gray and Tiffany Hardin and husband James and numerous great-grandchildren; brothers, Raymond Flagg and James Flagg; and sisters, Katherine Shelton, Frannie Eagan, Mary Ann Eatherton and Teresa Bunch.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 8, at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Haven, with Pastor Andrew Preus officiating. Burial was at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church.
Arrangements were under the direction of Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven.
