Bernard Eugene Litton, 92, Owensville, passed away Friday, Dec. 16, 2022, at Gasconade Manor in Owensville.

He was born Aug. 25, 1930, on the family farm in Maries County to William and Opal (Jett) Litton.

He was united in marriage to Lorene Gibson, Aug. 21, 1954, in Bland.

Bernard was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. He enjoyed being outside where he loved seeing God’s creation. His favorite was springtime so he could plant his big garden. He and Lorene did a lot of canning of the vegetables he grew.

He was preceded in death by parents, William and Opal; brother, Carl Litton; grandson, Timmy Wright; great-grandson, Johnathan Callison; brothers and sisters-in-law, Junior and Maxine Schaefferkoetter and Clinton and Mabel Gibson; and brother-in-law, Roger Thompson.

He is survived by wife of 68 years, Lorene of Owensville; daughter, Carol Wright and husband Dennis of Owensville; sisters, Betty Thompson of Jefferson City and Barbara Shockley of Vienna; granddaughters, Deanna Callison and husband Terry of Vienna, Bonnie Niederhelm and husband Mark of Rhineland, Billie Jo Seamon and husband Matt of Anchor Point, Alaska; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Bridgett, Rose, Cody, Meagan, Amanda, Jacob and Alana; great-great-grandchildren, Lockland, Melissa, Mason, Lillian, Anna, Ava, Wesley, Klara, Natalie and Kiara; and cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 22, from 4–7 p.m. at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville.

Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Jack Kurrelmeyer officiating. His ashes will be interred at a later date at Countryside Memorial Gardens.
