Billy Howard Adkison, 88, Owensville, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at Missouri Veterans Home at St. James.

He was born May 21, 1932, to George Marvin and Ollie (Ward) Adkison, in Sikeston.

He was united in marriage to Joan Fletcher, Nov. 11, 1952, at Pocahontas, Ark.

Billy worked as a carpenter in residential and commercial building. 

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling with his wife, Joan. He was a member of the Rosebud Lion’s Club and served as a Rosebud alderman for several years. He was a member of Boeuff Presbyterian Church. Billy served in the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by parents, George and Ollie; wife, Joan; son, Jerry Adkison; brothers, Glenn and Dale Adkison; half-brother, Don Fischer; sister-in-law, Susie Adkison; and brother-in-law, Darrell Hohensee.

He is survived by children; Garry Adkison and wife Melanie of Owensville, Terry Adkison of Montgomery City, Larry Adkison and wife Peggy of Granite City, Ill., and Sandy Adkison and Allen Benton of Sullivan; daughter-in-law, Robin Adkison of Owensville; brothers, Danny Adkison of Sullivan, Earl Adkison and wife Cathy of O’Fallon and Allen Adkison and wife Linda of Hazelwood; sister, Georgia Hohensee of Sullivan; sister-in-law, Sharon Adkison; and13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 29, at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home Chapel in Owensville with Rev. Ron Koppelmann officiating. Burial with full military honors was at Boeuff Presbyterian Cemetery in Gerald.
