Blaine Saebens, 34, of Sullivan, formerly from the Gerald area, was shot and killed near Sullivan Oct. 15.
Franklin County Sheriff Steve Pelton reports the incident was called in to his office at 2 a.m. as a domestic disturbance, but does not indicate who originated the call.
A second call followed stating that a male subject had been shot.
Deputies arrived to find Saebens shot in the chest. He was transported to a hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Pelton says preliminary investigation found that Saebens entered the residence where there were two women inside. At some point there was a physical confrontation over a shotgun inside the residence between Saebens and one of the women. During this confrontation, the other woman shot Saebens in the chest with a handgun.
The investigation is continuing and Pelton promises more information as it becomes available. There was nothing more issued from the sheriff since his original press release dated Oct. 15.
Facebook posts on the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department page state that Saebens was invited into the home and one of the women was his “girlfriend.”
Saebens was the father of three children.
