Bourbon man arrested for child pornography

A Bourbon man is facing multiple felony charges after investigators say they discovered hundreds of files of suspected child pornography on his phone and linked him to online trading of the material.

According to documents filed in Crawford County Circuit Court, 27-year-old Isiac William Barnhart was arrested on Sept. 18 following a months-long investigation by the Missouri Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The case began with a cyber tip in December 2024, when the messaging application KIK flagged accounts suspected of distributing child sexual abuse material. Investigators allege one of those accounts was linked to Barnhart.

Detective Shawn Hedge of the South Central Missouri Computer Crimes Task Force reported that between December 2024 and August 2025, Barnhart allegedly used multiple online accounts to upload and share videos depicting children engaged in sexual acts with adults. The files were distributed to other KIK users under usernames connected to Barnhart.

A search warrant executed at Barnhart’s home on Landers Road in Bourbon resulted in the seizure of his cell phone, which investigators said contained a gallery of images and videos of child pornography. Court documents state that Barnhart admitted ownership of the accounts and confirmed he had been collecting child pornography for years. He told detectives he considered his actions an addiction and believed the cause originated from previous trauma.

Among the files listed in the probable cause statement are videos showing at least one toddler and boys and girls no older than eight or nine years old engaged in explicit acts with adults, and that the specific videos listed were “only a few of approximately hundreds of files which Barnhart is alleged to promote to other KIK users.”

Barnhart also admitted to using applications such as Telegram to obtain and trade the material.

Prosecutors filed a felony complaint on Sept. 19 charging Barnhart with five counts of possession of child pornography and three counts of promoting child pornography in the first degree. Each count is classified as a class B felony. If convicted, Barnhart faces a sentence of five to 15 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections on each count.

A separate arrest warrant issued by Judge Patrick Horsefield outlined that Barnhart is accused of possessing more than 20 images or videos of child pornography and promoting the material to other users. The court found Barnhart to be a danger to the community and ordered him held without bond. He was advised of the charges via video appearance within 48 hours of his arrest and was assigned a public defender.

Court records show that Barnhart’s attorney, Joshua Hedgecorth, has since filed a motion to set bond and reduce the no-bond order. A hearing on the motion is scheduled for Oct. 9 at 9 a.m. in Crawford County Circuit Court.

In filings, Detective Hedge emphasized the ongoing danger posed by Barnhart, writing that “Barnhart is a danger to every minor child in the community and beyond its borders” and that his collection and distribution of the material “creates the demand for child sexual abuse material to be created.”

Barnhart remains in custody at the Crawford County Jail pending further court proceedings.
