Helping Jordan Palmer’s Owensville Dutchgirl soccer team to a school record 14 victories this past spring, junior Destinee Busenhart recently garnered additional postseason honors.

Marking a major milestone, Busenhart became the first All-State player in the six-year history of the Dutchgirl soccer program.

In recent voting by the Missouri State High School Soccer Coaches Association (MSHSSCA), the Owensville junior forward was selected to the Class 2 All-State Honorable Mention squad.

Scoring a team-leading 39 goals this past spring, Busenhart also led the Dutchgirls on the pitch dishing out 22 assists.

Busenhart was among a handful of All-State soccer players from within the Four Rivers Conference (FRC).

Also in Class 2, a pair of St. Clair Lady Bulldogs were named to their respective MSHSSCA Class 2 All-State Teams.

Senior midfielder Chloe Merseal was a first-team selection and junior defender Gracie Sohn was a second-team nod in Class 2.

Holding on to defeat Fatima 6-4 on the road in late March, Busenhart faced off against a pair of All-State Lady Comets.

That Fatima duo was sophomore forward Erika Pope as a MSHSSCA Class 1 First Team pick and senior midfielder Haylee Bax as a second-team selection.

Fatima was not the only Class 1 opponent on Owensville’s schedule that had All-State honorees.

Laquey’s Lady Hornets also produced a pair of All-State selections in second-team junior midfielder Alexia Cressel and honorable mention senior goalkeeper Hailey Miller.

OHS also posted a 5-3 victory over the Lady Hornets as part of a four-game homestand in early April.

Falling to Union’s Lady Wildcats 11-0 in their third match of the season, Busenhart and the Dutchgirls saw the FRC powerhouse place fourth in the state in Class 3 garnering four MSHSSCA All-State selections.

Junior midfielder Hailey Cloud and sophomore forward Emily Gaebe both garnered first-team nods while sophomore defender Maddie Helling was named to the Class 3 All-State second team.

Junior goalkeeper Hannah Olive also earned MSHSSCA Class 3 Honorable Mention status for the Lady Wildcats.
