Jody and Bill Miles were joined Saturday evening by friends, family, area educators and administrators for a 20th anniversary celebration of their Earth’s Classroom outdoor educational program which has had more than 63,500 participants. The couple awarded 12 “Outdoor Education Excellence Awards” to educational groups/schools that have worked with Earth’s Classroom, Inc., during the past 20 years. Those recognized “recorded a high number of participants and multiple visits, essentially getting their students outside into Missouri’s ecosystems,” according to the couple. Award recipients include (from left) Ruth Noelker (Our Lady Of Lourdes School, Washington), Jill Bleckman (St. Gertrude School, Krawkow), Dr. Jeri Kay Hardy, (Gasconade County R-2 Schools including Owensville and Gerald), Kara Adams (Lost Valley Lake Resort), Vicki Flat and Jeanie Brodin (Osage R-2 Linn Elementary), Bill Miles (co-founder of EC), Shiela Baer, Beaufort Elementary School), Jody Miles (co-founder of EC), Kate Kluesner (Central Elementary, Union), Rex Rohrer and Lori Moore (Meramec Valley Homeschool Association), Wendy Turnbough (School District of Washington), Sara Otto (Clark-Vitt Elementary, Union), and Melanie Trentmann, (South Point Elementary, Washington). Also recognized but not pictured was Jaime Neaveill, (Edgar Murray Elementary School, St. Clair).
