Charles Leslie Holzschuh Jr., 90, Owensville, passed away Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019, at Frene Valley Healthcare in Owensville.

He was born March 8, 1928, to Charles Leslie Sr. and Sarah Eunice (Krause) Holzschuh.

He was united in marriage to Delsea Jean Weller, April 5, 1951, at Poplar Bluff.

Charles had served with the U.S. Army and the Merchant Marines. He enjoyed farming, working in his woodworking shop and watching John Wayne movies. He also loved spending time with his family and being outdoors.

He was preceded in death by parents, Charles Sr. and Sarah; wife, Delsea; and sisters, Willadeen Carpenter, Adelene White and Mary Jane Angell.

He is survived by daughters, Melanie Kottwitz and husband George of Owensville and Melissa Howard and husband William “Bill” of Rosebud; sister, Adoree Brandt of Owensville; brother, Carl Holzschuh and wife Margaret of St. James; grandchildren, Joshua Kottwitz and wife Chandre of Pacific, Heather Giles and husband Spencer of Robertsville, Dakota Howard of Rosebud, and Clayton Howard of Berlin, Germany; and great-grandchildren, Logan and Lucy Giles and Charlize Kottwitz.

Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 2, from 9-11 a.m. at Gottenstroeter Chapel in Owensville. Memorial services with full military honors will follow with Rev. Kevin Sullivan officiating.
