City Clerk Jane Hungler told the Republican Tuesday that she will be leaving her position with the city in December.
Hungler began her duties as city clerk Jan. 2, 2014. Since then, the city has gone through some tumultuous times. With Hungler’s departure, the city will be losing some institutional knowledge that will be hard to replace.
Adding to the predicament, is the recent departure of Hungler’s deputy clerk, Shelley Smythe.
Hungler says she has accepted a position as the City Clerk at Fenton. This will allow her and her husband to move closer to his parents who have health issues.
Smythe began working for the city in May 2018. Her position also included the work of utility and police clerk. To date, no one has been hired to fill her spot, but Hungler says she hopes to begin interviewing candidates soon.
