City of Gerald hires new clerk

The city announced the hiring of a new utility clerk at the end of their meeting last Thursday, May 13.

The board of aldermen went into an executive session to discuss personnel and legal issues. When they came back into open session, it was announced that Tina Wehmeyer had been hired for the now full-time position.

The spot has been vacant since Melissa Bauer abruptly resigned in early April.

Wehmeyer, who lives in Gerald and owns Tina’s Treasures, began her new duties Monday. Her primary responsibility will be issuing water bills, collecting payments and customer service provided by waiting on the window and answering phones.

The position no longer includes the duties of deputy city clerk, but may include other duties, according to City Clerk Be Ahring.
