Owensville’s city administrator has filed the necessary paperwork to obtain $477,000 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding from the federal government.
Randy Blaske said he received the application Monday and had it submitted by Tuesday afternoon as the city of Owensville seeks its allocation of the $450,043,657 coming to Missouri’s “non-entitlement units of government.” Eligible cities, towns and villages under 50,000 in population are eligible for this round of ARPA funding.
Nationally, the federal government will be distributing $19.53 billion to states, said Blaske reading from the materials he filed. “We are in the system,” said Blaske.
The city plans to use these funds to make continued improvements to its water and sewer infrastructure, said Blaske. This includes additional improvements to reduce infiltration and inflow into its wastewater treatment plant to “get us in full compliance with the DNR (Department of Natural Resources) and our shortfalls with the lagoon.”
