Clyde E Hesemann, 71, of Owensville, passed away June 29, 2020, at his home surrounded by his family.

Clyde was born Feb. 26, 1949, to Chester and Helen (Landwehr) Hesemann. He married his sweetheart Lynn Ritterbusch, Oct. 16, 1971, in St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Owensville.

Many will remember Clyde for his dedication to his family and his farm. After earning his BS in Agricultural Economics from the University of Missouri, Clyde returned to the family farm which he operated with his brother, Nolan. They continued the family tradition which had begun in 1935 on the very same lands.

Clyde was generous with his time and energy as a reliable and loyal volunteer with organizations throughout Gasconade County, particularly those that reflected his passion for agriculture and education and supported his church family at Woollam United Methodist Church.

Clyde passed on his love of the outdoors to his children and grandchildren and frequently hosted friends and family for fishing and hunting. He loved to spend a sunny afternoon in pursuit of bluegill and to hear the forest come alive in the early morning hours looking for deer or turkeys. He taught his family the lessons of nature, to believe in people’s goodness, to be fair and respectful, and to accept the will of God.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Chester; sisters, Avonell Hesemann and Janice Spurgeon; and great nephew, Dean Spurgeon.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn of the home; children, Sarah Wells and husband Bill of Esko, Minn., Kyle Hesemann and wife Mandy of Willard and Nathan Hesemann and wife Laura of Columbia; beloved grandchildren, Noah and Elizabeth Wells, Brady, Hatty and Daniel Hesemann, and Ella, Audrey and Amelia Hesemann; brother, Nolan Hesemann of Owensville; and by nine nieces and nephews and their families.

Services were private and burial was in New Woollam Zoar Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the New Woollam Zoar Cemetery Fund and the Owensville High School Alumni Association (designate Hesemann Family Scholarship Fund).
