As testing for COVID-19 ramps up, so the number of confirmed positive cases in Franklin County.
Last Tuesday, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (MDHSS) reported 1,327 positive cases and 14 deaths across the state. There were 13 positive cases in Franklin County on that day.
Compare that to Tuesday, April 7. Statewide there were 3,037 confirmed cases and 53 deaths statewide. Franklin County had 35 positive cases and three deaths.
At press time, there have been no reported cases in Gerald, although there was a positive case in Leslie. According to Presiding County Commissioner Tim Brinker on Monday, April 6, there was one confirmed case in Leslie, Sullivan, Labadie, St. Albans and New Haven. He reported 13 confirmed cases in Washington, five each in Union and Villa Ridge, four in Pacific, three in St. Clair and two in Lonedell.
Brinker said the three dead were identified as an 86-year-old male from Villa Ridge and an 85-year-old male and an 86-year-old female, both from Washington.
The Sullivan Independent News is reporting that anyone who visited the Sullivan Walmart after 11 a.m., March 28, should monitor themselves for possible exposure.
Sullivan straddles the Franklin and Crawford county lines and the story referenced a second confirmed case in Crawford County.
