Friday night, gridiron Gasconade County bragging rights between the Owensville Dutchmen and Hermann Bearcats will be on the line at Dutchmen Field.

Fresh in the minds of Nathan Cabot’s Dutchmen is last year’s 46-38 double-overtime loss to Hermann last fall at Bearcat Memorial Stadium.

“Knowing that the trophy is currently not in our possession is motivation enough for Friday night,” Cabot said.

Coached by Andy Emmons, Hermann’s Bearcats will enter Friday’s nights contest with a 2-2 record and a 1-0 mark inside the Four Rivers Conference.

Hermann has victories against St. James (22-15) and Montgomery County (16-12) to go along with losses to Fredericktown and Lutheran (St. Charles).

Hermann is led by quarterback Parker Anderson who has thrown for 174 yards and two touchdowns.

On the ground, Bearcat running back Holden Ash has a team-high 49 carries for 313 yards and a touchdown.

Brody Frederick is next with 181 yards rushing on 47 carries and a touchdown.

Seth Hackmann leads Hermann receivers with five catches for 70 yards.

Frederick also paces the Bearcats on defense with a team-high 30 total tackles. Nick Waechter follows with 17 total tackles.

Seeing Owensville on film, Emmons knows his team is in for a battle-tested Dutchmen team.

“Owensville is a very impressive team on film,” Emmons said. “Their coaching staff does a good job of putting their players in a position to make plays.”

Some of those players include quarterback Brendan Decker, TC Fisher, Garret West and Derek Brandt.

“Brendan Decker is an outstanding quarterback who is very illusive,” Emmons said. “TC Fisher, Garret West and Derek Brandt stand out on film and are great play makers.”

One thing is for certain, Cabot’s Dutchmen will be eager to return the trophy back to Owensville after such a tough loss last year.
