Franklin County Presiding Commissioner Tim Brinker continues to issue daily updates on the COVID-19 outbreak in Franklin County.

In the last seven days, five new active cases, 17 recovered and one new death have been reported in the county. 23 of the active cases are in skilled nursing facilities, 13 are in the county as of Tuesday, May 12. A week ago, 38 active patients were in skilled nursing facilities, while 12 were in the county. There are two active cases reported in the Pacific/Villa Ridge area, one in Lonedell, five in Union, 20 in Washington and seven in St. Clair. In the week prior, there had been 14 new cases and no new deaths.

In total, 14 deaths have been reported in Franklin County from the virus, two in Villa Ridge and 12 in a nursing facility in Washington.

Brinker says 81 people in Franklin County have recovered from the virus.

Since the county loosened precautionary restrictions May 4, nine new positive cases have been confirmed. Brinker assures the public that contact tracing has been done on those patients.

According to statistics from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS), the last seven days have seen a continued rise in cases across the state. There were 8,916 confirmed cases and 377 deaths statewide as of last Tuesday, May 5. By Tuesday, May 12, there were 10,006 confirmed cases in the state with 524 deaths. Those figures reveal 1,090 new cases in a week across the state with 147 new deaths.

The DHSS statistics now mirror those released by Brinker. In the past, there had been disparity between the two sources of data.
