Over a span of three days in the coming week, Owensville High School track and field, baseball and girls soccer will be competing in their respective district tournaments.

District madness will begin Saturday, May 15 when Dutchmen Field will host the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Class 3, District 5 Track Meet.

Competing alongside the host Dutchmen and Dutchgirls will be Ava’s Bears, Buffalo’s Bison, Cuba’s Wildcats, Fair Grove’s Eagles, Liberty’s (Mountain View) Eagles, Mountain Grove’s Panthers, School of the Osage’s Indians, Salem’s Tigers, St. Clair’s Bulldogs, St. James’s Tigers, Strafford’s Indians and Willow Springs’ Bears.

Field events will begin at 10 a.m., followed by running events starting at 10:30 a.m.

Individuals and relay teams who finish in the top four of their respective events will advance to one of four Class 3 sectional track meets to be held on Saturday, May 22 at Camdenton High School.

Also starting Friday will be the MSHSAA Class 4, District 9 Baseball Tournament at Sullivan High School’s Sullivan Bank Ball Park.

Salem and St. James will face off at 4 p.m., Friday in Sullivan to see who advances to the district semifinals.

Tyler Ahring’s Owensville Dutchmen earned the top seed and will await the winner of the Salem and St. James in the district semifinals on Saturday, May 15 with a 3:30 p.m., first pitch.

A victory in the semifinals will advance the Dutchmen to the district championship game on Tuesday, May 18 at 5 p.m., in Sullivan

St. Clair and Sullivan will make up the other semifinal on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Ahring’s Dutchmen earned the top seed defeating all four teams in the district field.

In spite of splitting two meetings with St. Clair, OHS helped themselves with a 6-5 win over Hermann while St. Clair dropped a 3-2 decision to the Bearcats.

Beginning Monday at Mexico High School, Kalyn Kemp’s Owensville Dutchgirl soccer team will compete in the MSHSAA Class 2, District 4 Girls Soccer Tournament.

Seeded fourth out of seven teams, Owensville will open the tournament on Monday, May 17 against Fulton’s Lady Hornets at 4 p.m., in Mexico.

Already owning a 2-1 victory over Fulton, OHS will look for their second win over the Lady Hornets in order to advance to the district semifinals on Tuesday, May 18 against top-seeded Southern Boone.

Other teams in the district tournament include Christian (O’Fallon), Winfield, Wright City and the host Mexico Lady Bulldogs.

Also helping Owensville’s cause for tournament seeding was a 4-0 victory over Wright City back on April 12 at Dutchmen Field.
