Donald Ray Phillips, 72, St. James, formerly of Washington, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2020, at Missouri Veteran’s Home in St. James.

He was born April 17, 1947, to Alfred and Iva Jane (Robertson) Phillips, in Lanes Prairie.

He was united in marriage to Janet Roberts, Feb. 23, 1968, at First Baptist Church in Belle.

Donald graduated from Belle High School. He joined the Army after graduation and served in Germany and Vietnam. In his early life, Don had an avid interest in cars and drag racing. In 2003, after working for 30 years, he retired from the Chrysler minivan plant in Fenton. Following retirement, he drove a school bus for the Washington and Union school districts. In his later years, he enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his loved ones.

He was preceded in death by parents, Alfred and Iva; his mother and father-in-law; and great-granddaughter, Serenity.

He is survived by wife, Janet, of Washington; daughters, Tracey Landwehr and husband Brad and Andrea Thomas and husband Jason; grandchildren, Emily Landwehr, Marissa Carr and husband Jeremy and Emma and Ian Thomas; great-grandchildren, Brayden and Brantley; and sisters, Donna Ridenhour, Linda Hafley, Brenda Lehnoff and Audrey Brown and their families.

Private family services were held. Burial was in Countryside Memorial Gardens in Owensville. Memorial contributions suggested to Missouri Veteran’s Home in St. James designated for the Special Care Unit.
