Dorothy Catherine Lang, 86, Owensville, passed away Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020, at her home surrounded by her loving husband and family.
She was born July 18, 1934, to Joseph Fred and Lydia Anna (Heins) Daniels, in St. Louis.
She was united in marriage to Edward Raymond Lang, Sept. 5, 1953, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Pine Lawn.
Dorothy graduated from Normandy High School in St. Louis. She retired from Sid Boedeker Safety Shoe Company in 1995. Then, Dorothy and Ed moved from their beloved home in Florissant to Peaceful Valley Lake, Owensville. She and her husband were founding members of Chapel of the Cross Lutheran Church in Florissant. Later, she became a devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church in Owensville.
Dorothy loved to decorate her home for all of the holidays. Her favorite was Christmas where she won decorating contests. She enjoyed hosting family and many friends for holiday gatherings. Her Fourth of July celebrations were always a highlight at Peaceful Valley Lake. She also enjoyed her gardening, knitting, crocheting and quilting. Dorothy was loved by all who had a chance to spend any time with her. She will be missed by all of her family and friends. It’s never goodbye, we will see you again!
She was preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Lydia; sister-in-law, Edythe Daniels; and great-granddaughter, Bella Lang.
Her survivors include her loving husband, Edward Lang; sons, Daniel and wife Diana Lang of Troy, Kenneth Lang and Susie DuMont of O’Fallon and Richard Lang of O’Fallon; brothers, Harold Daniels of Troy and Robert Daniels and wife Carolyn of St. Peters; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Ermeling of Winfield; four grandchildren, Angie Ford of Troy, Sandy Grillo and husband Joe of Wentzville, Adam Lang and wife Maggie of Wentzville and Kristen Lang and Joe Reagan of O’Fallon; six great-grandchildren, Brennan Ford, Chase Ford, Nora Grillo, Ryan Grillo, Trenton Reagan and Connor Lang; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Visitation will be held (today) Wednesday, Nov. 11, from 4-8 p.m. at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville. Funeral services will be Thursday, Nov. 12, at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Owensville with Pastor David Roth officiating. Burial will be at Troy City Cemetery in Troy. Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church. Visitation and services are open to the public. However, due to COVID-19 virus concerns, masks are suggested but not mandatory. Casual attire acceptable.
