Dropping a 10-0 decision at Fatima last Monday opening a stretch of five games in four days last week, Hannah Koppelmann’s Owensville Dutchgirls were able to bang out 66 runs in four games against Hermann, New Haven, St. James and Salem.

Fresh off a doubleheader sweep of the Lady Shamrocks and Tigers last Wednesday, OHS capped their stretch of five games in four days with a road trip into Dent County last Thursday to face Salem’s Lady Tigers.

Scoring 10 runs right out of the gate in the top of the first inning, Owensville gave starting pitcher Layni Heidbreder enough run support for her to pick up her first varsity win following a 20-8 victory in Dent County.

Addison Wright led the offensive onslaught with a game-high four runs batted in (RBI) to go along with four runs scored, two hits and two walks.

Three of those RBIs came on her single-season school record breaking seventh home run in the top of the third inning.

Anna Finley finished with a game-high three hits in addition to four runs scored and three RBIs against Salem.

Leah Reed and Paige Loyd also had two hits and two RBIs apiece with Reed scoring three runs and Loyd crossing the plate twice.

In the nightcap of their FRC softball doubleheader at OHS Field last Wednesday, Owensville took on St. James Tigers in one of two games that had to be rescheduled due to a COVID-19 related quarantine during the middle of September by Dutchgirl softball.

Leading 10-2 after three innings, OHS plated five runs in the fourth inning and sixth runs in the fifth before going on to defeat St. James 21-2 in five innings.

Wright came within a single of hitting for the cycle against St. James hitting two home runs, a triple and a double.

From those four hits, Wright drove in eight runs and scored three of her own to propel the Dutchgirl offense against St. James.

Finley also had four hits, three runs scored and two RBIs against St. James.

Alison Daniels and Reed each had two hits and drove in two runs against St. James for Koppelmann’s Dutchgirls.

In spite of not having a hit to show for it, Hannah Nelson had three RBI sacrifice flies, a walk and a run scored.

Leading 4-0 in game one of the FRC softball twin bill against New Haven last Wednesday, Owensville plated six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning helping them to a 10-0 mercy rule win in five innings.

Helping her own cause, Wright earned the win in the pitcher’s circle in addition to two hits, two runs scored and four RBIs against the Lady Shamrocks.

Alison Daniels and Finley each added two hits against New Haven.

Scoring seven runs in the first and eight in the third, Owensville was able to defeat Hermann’s Lady Bearcats on senior night last Tuesday 15-0 in three innings.

Emma Daniels hit a three-run home run in the middle of OHS’ seven-run first inning.

Taking advantage of 11 walks against Hermann, Finley, Bailee Dare and Alison Daniels each drew two apiece.

OHS will close their regular season this weekend during the Rolla Softball Tournament.
