Dutchgirl six end regular season against Highway 19 foes

Closing out their regular season last week, Jamie Ridenhour’s Owensville Dutchgirl volleyball team faced off against a pair of Highway 19 opponents.

In their regular-season finale last Tuesday, Gasconade County bragging rights were on the line when Hermann’s Bearcats ventured south down Highway 19 paying a visit to OHS.

All three matches went three sets. However, they all went the way of the Lady Bearcats.

First up with a shot at a Four Rivers Conference (title), Taylor Payne’s Dutchgirl freshmen faced off against Hermann.

Dropping a close first set 30-28, Owensville came back to take the second set 25-23 to force a third-and-deciding set.

Unable to overcome several errors, the Dutchgirls dropped game three and the freshmen match to Hermann 30-28, 23-25 and 25-18.

Next up was Misti Rutledge’s junior varsity Dutchgirls against Hermann.

In similar fashion, Hermann took game one 25-17 before the JV Dutchgirls bounced back to grab game two 25-23 forcing yet another third-and-deciding set.

Not quite able to maintain the momentum from game two, Owensville dropped the JV match to Hermann in three sets, 25-17, 23-25 and 25-13.

Last up was the varsity match between the Dutchgirls and Lady Bearcats.

Going up against a tradition-rich Hermann program, Ridenhour’s Owensville squad fell to the Lady Bearcats in three sets 25-12, 25-6 and 25-16.

Haley Coello led OHS in kills with five followed closely with four each from Emily McKinney and Kyla Hendrix.

Kylie Kitchen served the lone ace for the Dutchgirls against the Lady Bearcats.

McKinney also posted a team-high three blocks while Cadi Ruth recorded a team-high 29 digs.

Also reaching double digits in the dig department were McKinney with 17 and Grace McFalls with 12.

On the road in Cuba the previous night, Owensville swept the varsity match in three sets, 25-10, 25-17 and 25-11.
